Orienteering in Nacka

Last week before running the Midnattsloppet I spent the day in the forests of Nacka, just south of Stockholm. Like Uppsala and several other places in Sweden, there is an ongoing tournament in orienteering in this part of Stockholm. Currently 75 numbered markers have been put out with a n individual letter code on each one. These codes are entered online at http://www.hittaut.nu and each month there is a lottery drawing among the participants.

Last week I already found 16 of these markers, and today I added another 28 to my list, bringing me up among these week’s rockets on the homepage.

Not all the markers are actually in the forest, some are close to the water. And there you can watch big and small ships arriving in and leaving Stockholm…

At home on my balcony my chili peppers were drowning this morning after 24 hours of permanent rain. On my Bishop’s Crown I noticed a strange flower – actually two flowers with their stalks grown together. I’m curious to see how these will develop into fruits…
